Acupuncture is a time honoured treatment protocol that can be used as an adjunct therapy or stand alone. Chinese acupuncture traditionally addresses the Yin and Yang channels according to pulse diagnosis to balance the Chi of the individual to abate the symptoms or troubling channel. The needles are used as a conduit to decrease or enhance the energy within the channel to the surrounding Universal energy.
Western application of acupuncture is directed toward stimulating nerves to release endorphins as the body’s own natural pain killer. At the same time, it will also change the threshold levels of the pain fibres to restore them to their natural levels. Acupuncture is also very effective in treating muscle trigger points and can also be used for relaxation and alleviating stress. There are numerous applications as well as research into the effectiveness of this 3,000 year old treatment.
Acupuncture does not hurt. It surprises so many people because of course, they have been told that the needles they get from vaccinations or taking blood “won’t hurt”, only to find that it does. The acupuncture needles have a very fine gauge making them even thinner than the other needles that require a thicker gauge because those have to remove or inject liquid.
Most people experience a more relaxed feeling after the acupuncture treatment and find it an easier treatment to have than they had envisioned.
